Although a lot of our own conscious thinking can produce positive change, there are times when our deeper emotions and uncertainties cause us to build bigger defences, and through time these begin to harbour themselves deeper into our subconscious, so that we become stuck in a negative cycle of frustration, guilt, shame or fear. Unhelpful thought patterns hold us back, and unless we address this negative insecurity we will continue to get stuck in the same loop.
